Work Experience
The career started in Mumbai as a customer service associate for UK customers, responding to their queries and complaints. Initially thought to be a short stint, it turned out to be a valuable experience in handling customers. Soon after, a move to Infosys as a software engineer led to relocation to Bangalore, followed by a delegation to the US as a data & analytics engineer working for energy and retail clients. Returning to Mumbai in 2013, joined SAS, an analytics company, to deploy financial risk management solutions for a leading Indian bank. In 2017, a transition to Siemens occurred to build a team enabling the digital transformation of the energy vertical, stepping into a general management role. Although it was a tough decision, the realization that building a high-performing team was far more fulfilling than writing software set in. Current responsibilities include technology consulting, people management, business development, and delivery management, with occasional secret shifts into the data engineer avatar!
Nature of Work
Balancing the availability of power for the ever-increasing demand with sustainable electricity generation presents a conflicting requirement. Software-driven insights can assist in making smarter decisions to satisfy energy demand with the lowest carbon footprint. Leading a DEV team building such products for the power generation services, data is acquired from more than 2000 power plants, transformed, and analytical and physics-based calculations are applied to generate insights for customers. The products help improve the performance and efficiency of power plants, reduce fuel consumption for fossil-based generation, and ensure availability in accordance with energy demand. Cloud-based platforms are also built for acquiring, processing, and analyzing time-series data in the order of TBs per day. In this role, the responsibility extends to running a global capability center for the energy vertical from India, which includes delivery management, technology consulting, people management, CRM, and business operations.
